In the past few days, a series of global developments have converged in a way that feels impossible to ignore.
Here in my home city of New York, the inauguration of Zohran Mamdani has sent a wave of unease through the Jewish community. For many of us, it signals a growing comfort with rhetoric and leadership that feels openly hostile to Jewish safety and legitimacy.
At the same time, events abroad tell a very different story.
In Venezuela, the United States has dramatically escalated pressure on the regime of Nicolás Maduro, further isolating one of Iran’s closest allies. Longstanding authoritarian strongholds are beginning to wobble under sustained international pressure.
And then, of course, there's Iran.
For my entire life, no figure has been more openly committed to Israel’s destruction than Ayatollah Khamenei. Yet for the first time in decades, credible reports suggest that even he is beginning to feel real pressure from the current American administration. Intelligence leaks and diplomatic signals point to instability at the very top of the regime, including reports that contingency plans are being considered in the event of further escalation.
If true, this would represent one of the most significant political shifts Israel has seen in its entire history.
Moments like this remind us why resolve matters. Why clarity matters. And why standing firm, even when it is uncomfortable, eventually changes the trajectory of history.
